On May 24, 2012, a class action lawsuit was filed against Los Angeles and New York-based limousine company, Ready To Roll Transportation, Inc. on behalf of former and current California chauffeurs, for unpaid wages and un-reimbursed business expenses. Plaintiffs allege that Ready To Roll illegally kept putative class members on-call, in between jobs, without compensation, and failed to reimburse for expenses incurred in direct discharge of Plaintiffs' work for Ready To Roll. On April 17, 2012, the Court granted preliminary approval to a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of all current and former hourly employees who were employed by University of Southern California ("USC"), who worked at either or both of its restaurants, The Lab Gastropub and/or McKay's at any time from March 3, 2007 to April 17, 2012. Carol Gillam is Class Counsel. If you wish to participate, the deadline is August 13, 2012 to submit your claim.
On July 19, 2012, the Court granted preliminary approval to a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of all current and former employees who were employed by Rahn Industries, Inc. as non-exempt factory workers in the State of California at any time from November 29, 2006 to July 19, 2012. If you do not wish to participate, your deadline to submit an Exclusion Form is September 10, 2012.
Carol Gillam was honored by the Daily Journal as one of the Top Women Lawyers in California. She was the only plaintiff-side employment lawyer in the State of California to receive this honor. An article about Carol appeared in the special edition of the Daily Journal sent to judges, lawyers and others throughout California. The top 100 women lawyers so named represent 1/8 of 1% of the state's women lawyers. The ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on May 9, 2012.
The Gillam Law Firm and the Law Offices of Thomas Falvey have brought another large class action against a major school bus company. Tyrer v. First Student, Inc. challenges pay practices involving school bus drivers throughout California,and charges that they were not paid for all hours worked. The case is pending in Los Angeles Superior Court.
