usc lawsuit carol gillamOn April 17, 2012, the Court granted preliminary approval to a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of all current and former hourly employees who were employed by University of Southern California ("USC"), who worked at either or both of its restaurants, The Lab Gastropub and/or McKay's at any time from March 3, 2007 to April 17, 2012. Plaintiffs allege that Ready To Roll illegally kept putative class members on-call, in between jobs, without compensation, and failed to reimburse for expenses incurred in direct discharge of Plaintiffs' work for Ready To Roll. attack of the show carol gillamOn July 30, 2012, The Gillam Law Firm brought a class action against G4 Media, Inc. and NBC Universal Media, LLC on behalf of former and current segment, associate, line and field producers of the live television show, "Attack of the Show," over their failure to pay producers all wages owed, intentionally misclassifying some producers, and committing unfair business practices. G4 and NBC have had a consistent practice over the years of keeping "Attack of the Show" woefully understaffed, causing the staff to work 50-70 hours a week without meal or rest breaks or full overtime pay. She was the only plaintiff-side employment lawyer in the State of California to receive this honor. An article about Carol appeared in the special edition of the Daily Journal sent to judges, lawyers and others throughout California. The top 100 women lawyers so named represent 1/8 of 1% of the state's women lawyers. The ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on May 9, 2012.

First Student, Inc. challenges pay practices involving school bus drivers throughout California,and charges that they were not paid for all hours worked. The case is pending in Los Angeles Superior Court.
